Roxi's Journey

They call me Roxi. It’s not the name I used to go by another name, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the human who used to have me.

They call me Roxi. It’s not the name I used to go by another name, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the human who used to have me. My life then was very hard. We lived on the streets and I often had no food to eat. When it was cold or when the sky exploded with loud noises and rain we often didn’t have a place to go where we could be safe. I used to live in a house with my human. Life was much better then. I don’t know why we had to leave. I don’t know why we had to live in the streets. I don’t know why my human had to give me away. I was scared when my human left me. We both cried.

I was put in a small room. The humans that lived there were nice and gave me food and water whenever I needed some. But I was alone. There were other dogs there, many of them yelling out to other humans to let them out. They were afraid. They were angry. I had no way of knowing how long I was there. The scent of my human was gone and I didn’t know where I was. Sometimes people would walk by and look at me. I would always be so happy to see them. My tail would start wagging and I always smiled at them. Sometimes they would talk with me. But no one opened my door. I began to feel very sad. I wanted to leave but I did not know how. Each day I felt even sadder than the day before. Soon I wasn’t interested in eating my food. Why bother? Nothing changes.

But today, something happened! One of the humans who live here opened my door, and this time it wasn’t to go outside. I went into a new room. There was a human I had not seen before. He was smiling and called me by my new name. I ran to him, and in my best Doggo I said, “Please get me out of here!” And he understood what I said!! Soon we were walking out the door. The air was filled with millions of new smells. I was free. I ran to his car, pulling him behind me. I wanted to get out of there before he changed his mind and took me back inside. I jumped into his car as soon as the door opened. It was quiet. The sounds of the yelling dogs were gone. The air was filled with beautiful music that made me feel safe. I was so excited!! Looking out of the car at all the strange and wonderful things pass us. Soon all my fear and stress began to slip away.

When he opened the car door again, I was in another large room. I could smell other dogs and I was nervous. Where am I? What is this human going to do? Where were these other dogs? He opened another door and there were two dogs waiting for me. They were both wagging their tails. Mine began to wag too! They were happy to see me!! The human walked us to another door and it opened to a large green yard!! I took off running. My two new friends chased after me. We ran and played until all of us were gasping to catch our breath.

The human gave us all dinner with rice and vegetables. It tasted soo good! Then me and my new friends went into the yard and ran and ran until we soon couldn’t breath. Soon, all the excitement from the day caught up with me and I began to fall asleep. The human and my new friends went into another room with a large pillow, big enough for all of us to lay down and still have plenty of room. The room went dark, but there was light coming from a big stone so I could still see.

I laid down next to the human. I felt like crying but I was too happy. I woke up today feeling no hope for happiness and now I was going to sleep on a large pillow, in a house, and with a full belly. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring me, but today was the happiest day of my life.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who played a part in my rescue and my path to happiness, especially my foster doggie dad Curt! You all made this possible!

The Importance of Drip Feed Socialization in a Dog's Life: Indy’s Journey

At our grassroots dog rescue, we often witness remarkable transformations from the moment a dog enters our care. One story that truly exemplifies the importance of socialization is that of Indy, a resilient puppy who overcame adversity and is now thriving thanks to a dedicated approach to his social development.

           From Abandonment to Hope

Indy’s journey began in a disheartening manner. Found as a bumpy puppy, he was dumped in a ditch, left alone and in need of help. While not all of his siblings survived the harsh conditions, Indy did, and that tenacity has followed him into his new life. This spirited pup has grown into a beautiful, bouncy, playful, and intelligent companion, but his early experiences left a mark, making proper socialization crucial to his development.

           Why Drip Feed Socialization Matters

So, what is drip feed socialization? Simply put, it means gradually exposing a dog to a variety of experiences in a controlled manner over time. Instead of overwhelming a dog with too much stimulation all at once, drip feeding allows them to process new environments, people, and situations at a comfortable pace. This is especially important for a dog like Indy, who, while spirited and curious, benefits from regular opportunities to learn and make good choices in different settings.

The Benefits of Drip Feed Socialization

           1) Confidence Building:

Regular social outings help Indy build confidence and learn how to navigate new experiences. By slowly introducing him to different situations like dog parks, cafes, and public events, he learns that the world is a friendly place.

           1) Better Behavior:

Consistent socialization assists dogs in developing good manners. By regularly engaging with other dogs and people, Indy learns how to interact appropriately, reducing the chances of anxiety or misbehavior in unfamiliar situations.

           2) Improved Adaptability:

The more variety Indy experiences, the better he becomes at adapting to changes. This adaptability is key for a dog who might face new situations in the future, from moving to a new home to attending fun family gatherings.

           3) Strengthened Bond:

Taking Indy out on outings fosters a bond between him and his humans. Whether we are enjoying a day at the farmers market, posing for a Christmas photo in front of a tree, or enjoying brunch at an outdoor café, these shared experiences create lasting memories and deepened trust.

Practical Ways to Drip Feed Socialization

For Indy, some examples of effective drip feed socialization activities include:

            Dog Parks:

Giving Indy the chance to interact with other playful pups helps him learn the social cues of canine communication while getting some much-needed exercise.

            Brunch Outings:

By taking him along to pet-friendly cafes, Indy gets to meet new people and enjoy the hustle and bustle of a lively setting, all while being securely leashed.

            Farmers Markets:

Here, he can experience different sounds, smells, and sights. Navigating through a crowd teaches him how to stay calm and composed, even when the excitement builds.

            Seasonal Events:

Whether it’s getting his Christmas picture taken in front of a beautifully decorated tree or celebrating Halloween with a costume parade, seasonal activities expose Indy to various festive experiences, further enriching his socialization journey.

Tips to Help Ease Your Rescue's Anxiety

Rescuing a dog comes with many challenges for both of you. Since you can’t possibly know what happened to your new best friend before you provided them with a safe space, they might come with various anxieties, fears, and insecurities that can keep you both on edge. If you notice that your dog is experiencing anxiety, there are many things that you can do to help ease them into their new world. These are the best and easiest tips for helping your new pet feel more comfortable with you and in their new home.

           Exercise

When your dog begins to feel anxious, it can trigger their fight or flight response in the same way it does for humans. Exercise will raise their heart rate and help them breathe deeper. When you get their blood pumping, it will help to reduce hormones like cortisol, which will help to calm them and make them feel less anxious.

           Massage

Massage is a great way to help reduce your dog's anxiety. Whether that comes in the form of a pat on the head or deep strokes down their mane, the simple act of touch can help ease their nerves and calm their fears. Just as humans get a chemical jolt by simply smiling, science tells us that when you smoothe the wrinkles above your dog’s eyes and in between their ears, it can make your dog feel less anxious.

           Calming Music

Calming music can help your dog relax and distract them from the anxiety they feel. If you know that your dog is going to be in a stressful situation, play some soothing tunes to help them cope with their fears.

           Treats and Toys

Toys are a great way to engage with your dog. Find a chew toy that they like or let them work out some of their anxiety by chasing a ball. The more distracted and active you can have them, the less anxiety they will feel. Also, handing them a treat will stimulate good feelings to squash the negative ones associated with anxiety.

           Physical Contact

Show your dog affection and reassurance when you see signs of stress and anxiety. Just showing them some love and attention can often make them feel loved and cared for. When they feel safe, they experience less anxiety. Just like us, being close, cuddling or even just making direct eye contact with your dog can ease their fears and anxieties.

            Routine

The best way to ease your dog's anxiety is by providing them with predictability, routine and a safe environment. Dogs like to have some sense of control, and giving them a schedule and repetition is a great way for them to gain confidence and reduce fears.

Rescuing is one of the best gifts that you can give to a dog. Every dog you rescue, however, will come with a certain amount of anxiety and fear. By giving them a safe and predictable home, you will see their anxiety begin to disappear, and when they are happy, you will be happier too.

Socializing Your Adolescent Dog

Although the critical period for socializing a dog is usually from birth to about four to five months, a dog is never too old to introduce aspects of dog socialization. Socialization training is a type of dog training that helps to ease your dog into interactions with other animals and people, whereby you instill a sense of friendliness that usually comes with confidence. If you are rescuing a dog, they might have encountered very little socialization, if any, but with patience, you can work together to create a safe space for mutual respect and growth.

Introduce Your Dog to New People

The best way to socialize your dog is to introduce them to a variety of new people. Dogs who are rescued might be lacking in the skills and confidence to interact with people, and socialization is an ongoing process. Make sure that the people you interact with early on have the necessary skills to make the interaction positive. Most will have the misconception that they should put their hand out to ease their entrance, but to animals, that is often felt as an act of aggression. The best way to approach a dog is to come up beside it and wait for the dog to initiate interaction. By training both the dog and those you put in your dog’s path, you will have the best likelihood of success. Try to continually find ways to pleasantly expose your dog to friendly people to increase confidence and decrease stranger anxiety.

Introduce Your Dog to New Dogs

Some rescue dogs not only come with very little socialization, often they have insecurities and fears from previous experiences. Taking your dog to places where they can interact with other animals and dogs like playgrounds, or even forming a dog play group, will help your dog learn to be around other dogs and behave appropriately. Again, always try to put your dog in situations where you are most likely to have a positive interaction. Not everyone understands your dog’s needs or how to approach them, so being protective of them is not only okay; it is necessary.

Go for Frequent Walks Taking Different Paths

Although humans are creatures of habit, it is a good idea to break those habits when you are trying to socialize your dog. When you go a different route, your dog will experience different smells, sights, other dogs, and different people. When your dog is continually stimulated, they are mentally acute, which helps your dog grow in many ways socially and emotionally.

Teach That Being Alone is Okay

Your rescue dog might experience a high degree of anxiety once they start to build a bond with you. The best way to socialize them and give them the skills they need to grow is by teaching them that being alone is not only okay; it is good. Take time every day to schedule alone time so that they can learn to deal with feelings of separation anxiety. If they follow you around all day, gate them to provide some distance, or even consider asking a friend to sit with them while you are away to provide a bit of comfort. If you are rescuing a young or smart dog, they can tend to get destructive when they are left alone. Consider crateing them while you are away, or signing them up for a doggie daycare or dog walker. The point is to plan ahead to head up poor behaviors before they happen.

Don’t Punish Their Moments of Fear

A rescue dog has likely been through trauma before they found your happy home. Try to remember that dogs aren’t like humans, and that fear might come in the form of aggression. Many rescue dogs might have a difficult time with new experiences, places, and people. If you punish their reaction, it might actually intensify that fear. It is much better to remove your dog from the fear-provoking stimuli and consider what is driving it rather than creating a bigger problem by showing aggression as a response in terms of punishment

Another way that you can socialize your dog is to desensitize them to different forms of touch. By handing your dog in various areas instead of just a pat on the head, you will help to desensitize those parts that can lead to perceived threats. If they stiffen, show the whites in their eyes, have a closed mouth, or try to escape, those are signs that they want you to step back, and you should stop handling them. Inoculating them to situations and circumstances that can be jarring, will help to ease anxiety and unpredictability that can often lead to aggression and negative reactions and behaviors.

When you rescue a dog, remember they don’t know you anymore than you know them. Socialization is greatest in the first couple months of life, but socialization training can be effective at any age. Patience and persistence are going to be the keys to helping your dog assimilate to their new space with you and gain the confidence they need to reduce anxiety and feel comfortable in their new home.

Are Rescue Dogs Harder to Train?

There are many stigmas related to rescue dogs and one of them is that they are harder to train than other dogs. The truth is it isn’t more difficult to alter the behaviors of a rescue dog. In general, the things that determine the trainability of a dog rest on other factors such as age, breed, predisposition, and past experiences. Many rescue dogs are just as trainable as those that you would obtain from a breeder. Sometimes a rescue dog requires a little longer to train, but with persistence and love, training your rescue is completely possible. These are tips that might help make the process less challenging.

           Patience and Persistence

Training any dog takes persistence and patience. Your dog had a life and environment before they entered yours, so you have to give them time to assimilate and the patience to allow them to make mistakes. Over time, good habits and behaviors will override any undesirable ones.

           Reward-Based Positive Training

When possible, try to avoid punishing your rescue with negative training practices such as shock collars and other harsh methods. It is much more effective to praise positive behaviors than to punish those behaviors that you are trying to squash. It might take more understanding to praise rather than punishment, but the reward for both of you will be much greater!

Routines and Rules are a Must

The best way to maintain consistency with your training, which is highly important, is to establish rules and routines. Setting boundaries for your rescue will grant them the predictability they need to find safety and some sense of control in their new environment. The more you can stick to a schedule, the more good behaviors will take hold.

           Set Attainable Potty Habits

You have to set realistic expectations for your rescue. Just because they are adult dogs, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they can go for long periods without being taken out. Set up a routine that will give them and yourself the best likelihood for success. Taking them out more frequently will provide both of you with a feeling of accomplishment.

           Be Consistent

Whatever rules and boundaries you do set, you have to stick with them. If your dog is showing aggression, that is usually a sign of anxiety and fear. By being consistent in your communication with your rescue, you can help ease anxiety-provoking situations and reduce the aggression that can come with fear and unpredictability.

           Spaying and Neutering are Important

Hormones can contribute to your dog’s poor behavior. If you have a puppy, make sure to spay or neuter them early on, and if your dog is an adult dog, spaying or neutering them will help to curb the things that drive your dog to some destructive and poor behaviors. It is always best to consult your veterinarian about decisions such as when to spay or neuter your dog. There are different situations and circumstances that can affect the appropriate timing.

Although many people wrongly assume that rescue dogs will always be more difficult to train than those you get from the breeder, being rescued does not in and of itself define the trainability of a dog. Other factors such as breed, age, gender, and past experience all play a role in how challenging training can be. A new dog will always take a certain amount of energy on your part, so make sure that you are up for the challenge before you bring any dog home. If you use persistence, consistency, and patience, you will soon see poor behaviors being overridden with positive ones. Training a rescue dog is a challenge, there is no denying that, but the rewards that come with the bonds formed in the process are greater than any that you can imagine.

Tackling Car Fear: Our Journey with Bubba in Downtown Tomball

Today, a member of the SD&SC team took our furry companion, Bubba, to the vibrant downtown area of Tomball for another round of car fear management, especially after his recent laser therapy session. The goal is to help him overcome his anxiety surrounding vehicles, and there’s promising progress to report!

           A More Confident Bubba

Upon arriving, it was evident that Bubba had made significant strides. While he still felt anxious whenever a large truck roared by or a truck towing a trailer entered the scene, he seemed more at ease compared to previous outings. Although his nervousness was still present, it was noticeably less pronounced, showcasing his determination to stay calm.

It's important to note that Bubba’s nervousness is rooted in a past trauma. When he was found, he had a dangling back leg, a result of an old injury that was undoubtedly related to being hit by a car. This history adds a layer of empathy to his anxiety, making our mission even more meaningful.

           The Power of Consistency

Repeated exposure to the stimuli that trigger his fear is essential in our training. Each visit to downtown plays a crucial role in Bubba's desensitization, serving as a reminder of how vital consistency is in building his confidence. Today's success is a clear indicator that our efforts are paying off, albeit gradually.

           Future Plans

Looking ahead, the SD&SC team plans to continue these outings, progressively increasing exposure to busier areas and louder vehicles. By pairing these experiences with positive reinforcement and comfort, we are optimistic that Bubba will eventually feel safe and secure around traffic.

           Conclusion

Bubba’s journey speaks volumes about the importance of patience and persistence in training. Even small victories are worth celebrating, and today’s outing has filled the team with hope. We’ll continue to share our progress as we work together to help Bubba conquer this challenge. Stay tuned for more updates on Bubba’s adventures in car fear management!

Amidst the vast unknown of a world filled with uncertainty, a courageous pup named Haven emerged from the shadows, a testament to the power of resilience and unwavering love. Found on the brink of death in a ditch alongside his sister Willow and two brothers, their journey began with a heart-wrenching loss.

Willow's light dimmed too soon, leaving a void in their hearts, but Haven and his brothers forged ahead, their spirits undeterred by the hand fate had dealt them. Embraced by the warmth of shelter, nourishing meals, and tender care, they embarked on a path to healing and renewal. Haven, a regal black lab mix with a heart as vast as his head, stood out as a beacon of hope and strength in the face of adversity. A gentle giant in stature and soul, his presence radiated a sense of calm and compassion that touched all who crossed his path.

As Haven learned to play once more, his spirit soared, embodying resilience and joy in every wag of his tail. His journey took a heartwarming turn when he found his forever home with a loving family – two moms, three boys, and two furry siblings. In the midst of chaos and laughter, Haven embraced his role as the gentle giant, weaving harmony and love into the tapestry of their lives.

SDSC helped unite Boz with our family

I had met Terra from a previous rescue adoption and we have stayed in touch since then. When she and Christine started Saved Dogs and Sane Chicks, I knew I was absolutely going to adopt another furbaby from them!

I had met Terra from a previous rescue adoption and we have stayed in touch since then. When she and Christine started Saved Dogs and Sane Chicks, I knew I was absolutely going to adopt another furbaby from them! Sure enough - Boz’s mom was sponsored by SD&SC. Boz was one of three and the last of the litter to be available for adoption. I just had to have him! I reached out to Terra and the wheels began to turn fast! Boz was being fostered and being exceptionally well cared for and loved. The date finally came for me to travel to Houston to meet my boy Boz - I was so excited! The moment I laid eyes on him, Boz had my whole heart!

SD&SC made the entire adoption process from start to finish super easy and stress free. Any and all questions - no matter how irrelevant where answered with the best advice. Due to their love and passion for rescue, they had set Boz (and his siblings) up to find their forever home! They ensured that his foster mom had everything he needed to have the best start to his life, and went above and beyond for the start of his new life with me. Boz had food, toys, and a new bed waiting on him (we won’t have to buy food for quite a while!). This allowed our first few days together to be all about bonding.

Thank you to Terra and Christine for your passion to save as many furbabies as possible!

The Resilient Journey of Cornelius: A Senior Pitbull's Tale of Second Chances

Meet Cornelius, a senior pitbull with a heart of gold and the silliest ears you've ever seen. At a local kill shelter, he arrived as a gentle, gray mixed breed, his tail a blur of excitement that captivated the volunteers' hearts. Despite his age, Cornelius exuded a charm that was impossible to resist.

Shelter volunteers rallied behind him, determined to showcase his endearing personality to potential rescue groups. With his lovable but not-so-smart demeanor, Cornelius's journey to find a forever home was met with challenges, until fate intervened at a mega adoption event where he found a new family.

Sadly, his initial adoption was short-lived as his new caretaker struggled with the responsibilities of training an older dog. Within days, Cornelius found himself back in a different kill shelter, facing the grim reality of being added to the euthanasia list.

Yet, amidst the despair, a glimmer of hope shone through for this lovable and slightly goofy senior pup. There was something special about Cornelius that tugged at the heartstrings of rescuers, prompting them to give him another chance at a fulfilling life. With dedicated care, medical attention, and training at a top-tier facility, Cornelius underwent a transformation, blossoming into the perfect companion animal he was meant to be.

Today, Cornelius thrives in the loving embrace of his human family and furry siblings, his once uncertain future now paved with warmth and security. His endearing nature shines brightly as he eagerly welcomes new acquaintances with a sit and a wag of his tail, his joyful spirit a testament to the resilience of animals given a second chance.

Whether it's being the first to greet a visitor or savoring his pup cup until the very last drop, Cornelius embodies the joy of finding love and acceptance in the face of adversity, proving that every dog, regardless of age or past experiences, deserves a chance to be cherished.

The Courageous Journey of the Last Little Yellow Pup: A Heartwarming Rescue Tale

Amidst the icy winds and swirling snowflakes of rural Tomball, Texas, a tiny yellow puppy's fate took a poignant turn on a fateful day at a Petsmart parking lot. Teenagers had scattered her siblings to kind souls, wary of the impending storm's arrival. Yet, the littlest yellow pup remained, a beacon of hope amidst the looming tempest, abandoned in a box, awaiting her destiny.

With the storm's fury on the horizon, a ray of kindness pierced through the cold as a compassionate soul extended a helping hand, offering the warmth and safety the little yellow pup so desperately needed. Seeking a caring home for her, they reached out, determined to rewrite her story with compassion and love, replacing the echoes of abandonment with a chorus of belonging.

Despite her petite stature, the yellow pup radiated a spirit as radiant as the Texan sunsets, her attitude bold and unwavering, a testament to her indomitable spirit. Transitioning swiftly from a fostered dog to the adored princess of her newfound abode, she found her place in the hearts of her humans, reigning over her domain with grace and charm.

Surrounded by an array of furry siblings, she relished in her role as the wise matriarch, playfully bossing them around with a regal air. Soft blankets became her throne, gourmet meals her banquet, as she reveled in the luxuries of her pampered life, a stark contrast to her humble beginnings.

Every moment, every expression, every wag of her tail was captured lovingly by her doting humans, immortalizing her antics in a tapestry of cherished memories. The little yellow pup, once a symbol of neglect, had blossomed into a cherished muse, her playful escapades a source of endless joy and laughter.

Once upon a time in a rural Tomball neighborhood, four precious puppies were found abandoned in a ditch. Among them, a stunning chocolate-colored girl named Willow captured hearts with her spirit. Despite the odds, Willow's siblings and her fought against worms, starvation, and fleas.

Sadly, Willow had to journey to the rainbow bridge, but her memory lives on in her brothers. With love, vet care, nutritious meals, and TLC, they started to thrive.

One of Willow's brothers, Haven, found a new beginning with a loving family – two moms, three boys, and two furry siblings. It was a match made in heaven, filling their home with warmth and laughter.

Another brother was welcomed into the hearts of a couple who already had a human brother waiting to play and grow up together. Their bond blossomed as they created new adventures and lasting memories.

Through the power of compassion and second chances, these pups found their happily ever after. Their journey reminds us that love knows no bounds, and every wagging tail deserves a place to call home.

Rescue Story Of A Little Momma Dog

Meet Suki, a brave little mama dog whose journey from suffering to happiness is nothing short of extraordinary. Rescued from a yard where she was found clearly in pain, Suki's plight tugged at the heartstrings the compassionate woman who found her. When asked about his tiny dog, the owner callously admitted he no longer wanted her. But that was just the beginning of her story.

Thank goodness for the compassionate finder who couldn’t turn a blind eye to Suki’s suffering. Recognizing her distress, the finder rushed her to the vet, where it was determined that, in addition to her obvious pain, Suki was also very pregnant. Armed with this knowledge and a heart full of love, her new guardian brought her home to provide the safe haven she so desperately needed.

In her new home, Suki experienced the warmth of love and care for the first time. Cozy beds replaced the harshness of her previous life, and with no shortage of snuggles, she was set up for when her puppies arrived. As the days went by, the nurturing environment worked wonders on her spirit, and soon, Suki’s beautiful puppies made their entrance into the world. The three cutest little boys you ever saw filled the room with joy, love, and a fair share of playful chaos!

However, the excitement was tempered by concern for one little pup who was born missing a foot. Nevertheless, with each passing day, they all thrived under Suki’s watchful eye and the attentive care they received. Mama and her pups quickly became the focal point of affection, with everyone cheering on their journey to health.

Each of the puppies received medical care and vaccinations, and it wasn’t long before they found their perfect forever homes through SD&SC. It was a bittersweet moment for Suki as she watched her little ones leave, but she knew they were going to be cherished and loved.

When Suki went in for her spay surgery, another revelation awaited her. The original source of her pain was discovered: she had been shot, and the bullet had barely missed her spine. The news was shocking, but the vet assured everyone that Suki would heal beautifully. Her suffering was now a distant memory, and she could finally start her life anew without fear or pain.

Now, Suki has embraced her new beginning, thriving in her forever home where she is surrounded by love and care. The special bond she shares with her adopter is built on trust and gratitude, demonstrating that every creature deserves a chance at happiness.

Suki’s journey, from pain and neglect to love and joy, is a poignant reminder of the power of compassion. She is a true testament to the resilience of dogs and the incredible transformations that can occur when they are given a second chance.

Bubba’s Journey: Love, Resilience, and Finding His Forever Home at Saved Dogs & Sane Chicks

Every story we encounter tugs at our hearts, but none resonate quite like that of Bubba. His journey has been filled with challenges, heartbreak, and ultimately, an affirmation of love that reminds us why we do what we do.
A Year of Challenges and Joy

Bubba has been in our care for an entire year since we first found him at a construction site. He was discovered with a dangling black leg and a gunshot wound to his face so severe that it had pierced his tongue and caused a massive infection in his jaw. Despite these traumatic beginnings, Bubba’s spirit has always shone through – from that first moment we saw him and he came up wagging his tail.

His time with us has been both rewarding and demanding, but through it all, he has remained a fighter. After several surgeries, medical care and physical therapy, behavior training, yummy food and LOVE, Bubba became the picture perfect companion animal. Watching the videos of him running and hopping – this dog that could barely walk just a year ago – gave so much joy to all of us. All he needed was a furever family to complete his journey.

We are immensely grateful for the support that our community has shown Bubba throughout his time with us. Your encouragement and dedication have given him more than just shelter; they have given him love, comfort, and a sense of belonging while he awaits his forever home.

           A False Diagnosis

What was first presented to us as devastating news turned out to be a completely false diagnosis - and that twist saved Bubba’s life. Early this year, we were told by an emergency vet that Bubba had chest tumors and were urged to consider putting him down that very night. Heartbroken and in shock, we chose instead to bring him home for what we thought would be his final days. But the next day, our little warrior showed us he had other plans - he buried a bone for later! While Bubba’s diagnosis was challenging, it was completely false, and we can confidently say he’s going to be absolutely fine, with a full, happy, and hoppy life ahead! Read our post -

If you would like to help Bubba and other rescue dogs in need, consider volunteering your time, fostering animals, or making a donation. Your contributions make an incredible difference in giving second chances to dogs who, like Bubba, are waiting for their forever homes.
